Blue Star Marker Dedication
DEDICATION OF THE BLUE STAR MEMORIAL MARKER ~ May 27th, 2025
American Legion Post 91, Colchester, VT
Presented by the Federated Garden Club of Vermont, Inc.
The Blue Star Program honors all men and women that serve in the United States Armed Services. This program began with the planting of 8,000 Dogwood trees by the New Jersey Council of Garden Clubs in 1944 as a living memorial to veterans of World War ll. In 1945, the National Council of State Garden Clubs (now NGC, Inc) adopted this program and began a Blue Star Highway system that covers thousands of miles across Continental United States, Alaska, and Hawaii.
The Federated Garden Clubs of Vermont sincerely thank the following Burlington Garden Club that made this dedication possible:
Flora Bell -FGCV Blue Star Memorial Marker Coordinator raising over 2,500 dollars
Doris Van Mullen - President FGCV
