Look at What’s Happening at the Tree House!
The Story Walk ® in the treehouse at VT Garden Park will be available for families to enjoy through the month of September.
In collaboration with South Burlington Recreation and Parks, The Burlington Garden Club installed a Story Walk ® in the treehouse at VT Garden Park, 1100 Dorset Street, South Burlington.
The Story Walk ® provides an enjoyable reading experience for families playing at the park.
The book used for the Story Walk ® was Up in the Garden and Down in the Dirt by North Country author Kate Messner. The book was separated into individual pages and displayed around the entire interior of the treehouse.
“The Story Walk ® fits the mission of the Burlington Garden Club” said garden club president Jody Gendron. “We are committed to community beautification, garden therapy, and nurturing young gardeners.”
This book was chosen because it highlights the variety of gardens at VT Garden Park including the South Burlington Community Gardens, the Grandma and Grandpa’s Garden and Butterfly Garden maintained by the Burlington Garden Club, and beautiful flower gardens maintained by UVM Extension Service Master Gardeners.
“Kate Messner’s Up in the Garden and Down in the Dirt is a fun, educational book for young children,” said Burlington Garden Club Youth Committee member Jenna Johnson. “The story follows a complete annual growing cycle above and below the soil with easy-to-understand language and beautiful illustrations by Christopher Silas Neal.”
The original Story Walk ® was created by Anne Ferguson and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library in Montpelier, VT. Story Walk ® is a registered service mark owned by the Kellogg-Hubbard Library.
